“Hey computer, can you develop a small DIY robot that I can then build myself?”
Inspired by an agentic AI experiment during my vacation recently (a small robot demo made from CAD, code and simulation), I’m now wondering whether I can take it a step further.
The plan: I “only” design the agentic framework and the requirements for the robot, and then watch what happens. If everything goes as planned, I’ll build the robot to the agent’s specifications (hopefully it won’t accidentally get the idea to chase me).
What the agent is supposed to do autonomously:
- Derive specs from my requirements
- Define the functional and physical architecture
- Select components and suppliers
- Program the microcontroller
- Create the CAD model
- Simulate the robot
I’ll build in iteration loops, of course, with someone (namely me) in the role of human-in-the-loop. And I’ll probably have to screw the thing together myself. 😉
I’m currently thinking about the tech stack. Suggestions are welcome.
To be continued.
