Vacation is for relaxing. For me too. But with too many hobbies, you end up rebuilding your website about variant management in between.
Two years ago I secured the domain variantmanagement.com as a platform for one of my core topics. Until now, the site ran on a simple legacy CMS. On vacation I suddenly had both the drive and the time, so together with the coding agent I trust, I carried out the complete migration to Astro.
Result
- A much faster, nicer, better-structured site
- Agentic AI workflows that help me maintain it
- Optimized Docker container for my own coding experiments
- Content-wise: while revising articles and the glossary, I came across aspects I hadn’t had so sharply on my radar before
The last point shouldn’t be underestimated. If you think you know your topic inside out and then start writing it down in a structured way for others, you quickly notice where your own blind spots are.
👉 variantmanagement.com — feedback always welcome!
Technically, the Astro migration of variantmanagement.com was a vacation project with a coding agent — but content-wise it was above all a chance to honestly put my own expertise to the test again. If you write your topic down in a structured way for others, you find your own blind spots.
